The Weyarn-Miesbach state road was closed for several hours.

– Following drivers were quickly on the scene as first responders.

They tried to revive the two lifeless women and did not let up until the Weyarner fire department arrived.

But neither they nor the paramedics and emergency doctors were able to save the lives of the two women.

As the Holzkirchen police announced, a 69-year-old woman from the northern district of Miesbach and her 84-year-old passenger (also from the northern district) died from serious injuries sustained in a head-on collision on Palm Sunday (March 24th) at around 2:15 p.m on state road 2073 between Thalham and Kleinpienzenau.

An expert who arrived on site yesterday will try to clarify exactly how the accident occurred after consultation with the public prosecutor's office.

As a precaution, two rescue helicopters were requested.

A large contingent of rescue workers immediately made their way to the scene of the accident.

“We have some paramedics in our ranks,” explained Weyarns commander Ralph Benda, who led the fire department operation, “but unfortunately any help came too late for the two women.” The 55-year-old BMW driver was trapped in the car and had to be rescued by the fire department teams are freed.

He sustained serious injuries and was rushed to hospital.

The Weyarner Weir was supported by comrades from Miesbach (24 active), Gotzing (six active), Parsberg (17 active) and Holzkirchen (three active).

A total of over 80 active people were deployed.

A crisis intervention service helped the rescue workers on site to process what they had experienced.

Emergency chaplain Richard Siebler was also available.

The BRK was on site with five ambulances.

The state road was closed from 2:15 p.m. to 5:50 p.m., initially for rescue work and then for the preparation of an accident analysis report.

The route was rerouted from Thalham to Kleinpienzenau via side roads.

The force of the impact completely destroyed both cars.
