More than 200 participants are expected at the SPD state party conference in Göhren-Lebbin in April.
For some in the party, this is too much and too expensive considering there are 2,900 members in the northeast.
Schwerin - In the SPD Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania there is criticism of the size of the state party conferences.
An application for downsizing will be submitted to the next party conference on April 13th and 14th in Göhren-Lebbin (Mecklenburg Lake District).
It was submitted by the district association of the Hanseatic City of Rostock.
So far, according to the statutes, more than 200 participants have been planned for SPD state party conferences, the Rostock comrades explain.
In addition to 120 delegates from the district associations, these include 10 delegates from state working groups, 19 members of the state executive board and 65 other participants with an advisory vote.
This results in a number of people of 214. "In a federal state with 2,900 members, this seems oversized - compared to the federal party conference, which represents around 400,000 members with 600 delegates."
Almost all party conference participants needed an overnight stay because the SPD party conference in MV lasted two days, the comrades from Rostock continued.
This is only possible in very few places.
They also point out the costs: a state representative meeting with 95 delegates only costs around half as much.
