“Munichois”, “collaborators”, “Petainists”, “colonialists”: the French political debate is full of these insults which refer to history – we also hear talk of “genocide” in Gaza.
We are also one of the only countries to refer to it so much, and so much the better!
But are these formulas always justified?
“Munichois”, in reference to the Munich agreements of 1938, signed by France and the United Kingdom with Nazi Germany, to avoid war: the adjective was dropped in the camp of Yannick Jadot to qualify the positioning of Jean-Luc Mélenchon on Ukraine.
The reminder of the “Munich spirit” is relevant to those who believe that the word “peace” will be enough to convince a bellicose and limitless Putin.
Or worse, who are ready to let Moscow occupy Ukrainian territories with impunity for the sole purpose of not getting involved…
