The Easter holidays begin on March 25th in many federal states - so it will be busy on the motorways in Bavaria.
The ADAC predicts where it will take the longest.
Munich - With the start of the Easter holidays, Bavaria's motorways are likely to be crowded again.
The risk of traffic jams is particularly great on the weekend before the actual start of the holiday on March 25th.
Reason for this: In eleven federal states, the school-free period begins at the same time and most vacationers go on trips directly on the last day of school (March 22nd) or the following Saturday (March 23rd).
In many federal states, the Easter holidays start at the same time - traffic jams are inevitable.

ADAC: From Bavaria, the roads towards Austria and Italy will be particularly full
In three other federal states, the holiday season has already started a week earlier.
Even in other European countries, the holidays around the Christian festival are a popular occasion for excursions and vacation trips.
“This creates a difficult starting position, especially for holidaymakers who want to go south,” explains the environmental and transport policy spokesman for ADAC Südbayern, Alexander Kreipl.
“The usual suspects are particularly affected – the highways towards Austria and Italy as well as the trunk roads in the Alpine countries.”

Travelers should take into account: loss of time due to construction sites
In order to avoid the biggest traffic jams, it can be worthwhile to start your vacation anticyclically.
The ADAC expects the highest traffic volume on Friday (March 25th) from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekend days from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
In Austria, ADAC South Bavaria traffic expert Alexander Kreipl expects long traffic jams, especially on the Brenner and Tauern motorways; in Switzerland, the Gotthard route is likely to be particularly affected.
He assesses the situation on the Fernpass route (B 179) to be similarly negative.
The tense situation on the motorways is made more difficult by numerous construction sites, both in Bavaria and across the border.
“Travel traffic will come to a standstill during the Easter holidays, especially around Munich on the A99 eastern bypass,” explains Alexander Kreipl.
“The transition to the A94 towards Passau also has the potential to cause major disruptions.” On the Tauernautobahn A 10 between Golling andwerfen, the route is only accessible in one lane due to a construction site.
Kreipl generally advises travelers not to avoid traffic jams, as the alternative routes also tend to quickly become overloaded.
