The fire brigade and water rescue service rushed to the aid of a canoeist in distress on Lake Kochel on Saturday.

The water rescue service and fire department rushed to the aid of a 69-year-old from Puchheim.
He got into an emergency while canoeing on Lake Kochel.
Kochel am See - Due to strong gusts of wind and the resulting high waves, three canoeists got into difficulties on Lake Kochel on Saturday afternoon.
A 69-year-old fell into the ice-cold water, but was saved thanks to the quick intervention of emergency services.
Canoeist falls into the cold water of Lake Kochel
According to the police, the canoeists were in the eastern part of Lake Kochel in the Kochel municipality at around 11:30 a.m.
The man from Puchheim capsized a good 100 meters from the shore.
He was no longer able to get out of the water and back onto his boat.
His daughter called 911.
The water rescue service, rescue service, police and Kochel volunteer fire department then responded with a total of around 20 emergency services.
Rescuers pull capsized canoeists out of Kochelsee
As the Kochel fire department reports on its Facebook page, a water rescuer from the Kochel water rescue service jumped into the lake and pulled the hypothermic and exhausted man onto the boat.
An additional person was therefore admitted.
A Canadian drove himself to the shore.

The 69-year-old was then taken to hospital.
According to the Kochler police, foul play has been ruled out.
There was also a sensational water rescue in Kochelsee in September 2023.
