Beaten to death for suspending a student.

Another episode of violence against a teacher, or rather this time a principal, beaten to death by the stepfather of a boy whom he had suspended for using vulgar language.

It happened on March 15 in a private school in the northern outskirts of the capital, the San Gabriele Institute.

The attack took place at school in a real escalation of violence.

The man, who is the boyfriend of the boy's mother, showed up at the institute after the young man, a student, had received the suspension order.

He was looking for the school director, Raimondo Pietroletti, who was busy in a meeting at that moment.

First the verbal violence then the man actually stormed into the office demanding that the measure be cancelled.

The manager asked him to calm down but to no avail.

From threats and insults we moved on to physical violence.

A full-blown attack that sent the manager to hospital.

A beating which, according to witnesses, took place in front of the attacker's young son.

"The principal and the child were crying," some parents of other pupils said.

Some teachers from the school intervened and gave the alert and called for help and the police.

The school, a Catholic institute founded in 1929 and quite well known in the northern area of Rome, sent a note to all families informing them about the case and describing the man as "visibly altered".

Many messages of solidarity with the principal described by many pupils as "helpful and understanding".

Closeness to the manager was expressed by Minister Valditara.

"The firm condemnation of the incident and the wish, with all my heart, for a speedy recovery to the manager are not enough - says Valditara - because whoever attacks a school worker attacks the institution itself. It is my duty, as Minister, to carry forward , with determination, as I am doing every day, every useful measure to restore the culture of legality and respect to protect the entire school community".

Solidarity also from the coordinator of Forza Italia Roma Nord, Stefano Peschiaroli: "I hope that the investigators shed light on the dynamics of the facts. Attacking a principal or a teacher for having put a note on a pupil is a serious fact that must be condemned. Episodes of violence which unfortunately is happening too often and also has negative consequences in the education of the younger generations".
