A 22-year-old from Moosburg didn't think about the stove being switched on on Saturday evening when he quickly went shopping.

That had fatal consequences.

Moosburg

– A 22-year-old from Moosburg just wanted to go shopping on Saturday around 7:45 p.m.

He forgot to turn off the stove in his apartment.

A little later, residents of the Am Mühlbachbogen apartment building in Moosburg noticed a strong smell of smoke in the stairwell and immediately alerted the fire department.

Even before the emergency services arrived, the young man returned to his apartment.

When he realized what had happened, he wanted to run into his smoke-filled apartment on the third floor to save his dog.

But any help came too late for the animal: According to the Moosburg police, the dog died “due to the heavy smoke in the apartment”.

The young man also had to be taken to Freising Hospital to be diagnosed with smoke inhalation, the police report continues.

The Moosburg fire department, which was on site within a few minutes, extinguished the fire using a small fire extinguisher, checked the affected area with a thermal imaging camera and ventilated the apartment, as stated in the incident report.

The police estimate the property damage at around 10,000 euros.
