During his strong beer speech, Anton Silbernagl takes aim at politics - and “possibly for the last time” at Schex.

St. Wolfgang

– The hall at the Gasthaus zum Schex couldn't have been more crowded than the strong beer festival in St. Wolfgang.

Host Anton Silbernagl served the celebrities and other guests a menu of humorous and opinionated speeches.

As is usual with politicians, hardly anyone escaped unscathed.

Musically accompanied by the St. Wolfgang Music Association and equipped with tasty strong beer from the z'Loh brewery, the strong beer fans lacked nothing.

“Life writes the most beautiful stories,” said Lent preacher Silbernagl and began with anecdotes from everyday life before taking stock of the year.

Right at the beginning of his sermon, he threatened to hold a strong beer festival in St. Wolfgang for the last time, but when his guests called out, he corrected himself to “possibly for the last time.”

District Administrator Martin Bayerstorfer has also been working as a hunter for some time, but “he has often shot a buck when he was not yet a hunter,” said Schexn Toni when welcoming the guests of honor.

He became a little more serious with regard to the political right-wing movements.

“There are many different opinions and views - and that is right and a good thing,” he said, but emphasized: “We should all agree on Article 1 of our Basic Law, human dignity” - applause.

He quickly turned to community events.

“In St. Wolfgang, construction areas are being pushed forward very carefully – or rather, pushed forward,” he said, and had a very pragmatic solution ready.

His suggestion for the former brewery site: “Insure well and then have a fire drill.”

He also directly praised the Floriansjünger for their 150th anniversary.

“An all-round successful evening, despite patron Markus Söder,” he said.

The Prime Minister received a lot of insults, perhaps because he did not appear at the New Year's reception in the residence despite being invited and personally handed over free tickets.

Hubert Aiwanger also gave Lent preacher Silbernagl two cards and promised both politicians free food.

“Unlike many top politicians, I keep my promises,” which is why he presented Deputy Prime Minister Ulrike Scharf with two portions of spleen sausage for the next cabinet meeting with the two of them.

The guests didn't go away empty-handed either: the landlord gave out the next pint of strong beer for everyone in the hall.

He went one better for the farmers who have been abused by the bureaucracy: “If you have your membership card from the Bavarian Farmers’ Association with you, you will get a refund of half a euro on the previous half.” However, only after completing an application form in advance, which can be downloaded from next week.

He also criticized the bureaucracy with regard to migration.

On the one hand, workers are being sought in all sectors, while on the other hand, many people have come to Germany who could and would work - the bureaucratic hurdles would be lower.

He also talked about the current government.

The Greens are to blame for everything: climate change, bureaucracy, the death of pubs and “the fact that the national team was eliminated early from the World Cup”.

The preacher then presented a list of five bad things that citizens would still prefer than the traffic light government.

At the top with 90 percent: “They would rather watch a game by the St. Wolfgang footballers.”

“Let's look positively into the future, everything will be fine,” the innkeeper concluded his sermon this year and promised: Prime Minister Söder will become Chancellor, and with that “gender and the climate catastrophe will be banned nationwide,” and East Germany will once again become an independent state with a Prime Minister Björn Höcke, and St. Wolfgang veteran Hans “heil” Grasser becomes Pope.

After the end of his Lenten sermon, Patrizia Müller gave a eulogy for the last strong beer festival in St. Wolfgang.

“If the hall could tell what was going on here, it would be smarter for many people if they weren't here today.” Because the “Done without a hall” now had a lot of free time, she gave him suggestions on how he could fill it.

For example, as head of the daycare center, “because everyone can do that now, you no longer need pedagogical training.”

Or he could volunteer with the St. Wolfgang footballers, “because they can use support in every way.”

As a surprise guest, Manfred Slawny from Taufkirchen played word games on a trip from the beach vacation to the St. Wolfgang strong beer festival, in which the names of the politicians from Berlin, the Bavarian state government and ultimately the St. Wolfgang local councilors could be found.

For example, he asked himself about the Berlin politicians: “What do they actually drink all day to make such decisions?” and answered directly himself: Ricarda from the Greens drinks long drinks and Friedrich from the CDU a Merzen.

The St. Wolfgang local council, on the other hand, is reminiscent of a farm - at least when it comes to the names of the councilors.

He spoke of “goats and ax rams, cows and bulls, pigs and a little boar”.

Mayor Ullrich Gaigl doesn't play first fiddle, but at least a little Gaigl.

At the end, the celebrities present were able to show off their sense of humor.

Even Pastor Martin Ringhof didn't miss a beat and told four jokes.

“We'll be incorporating the priest into the program next year,” said the innkeeper with a laugh, giving a small glimmer of hope for tasty strong beer and punch lines in the Schex Hall next year.
