Exciting district shooting in Hohenbachern: The air pistol competition overshadowed the other categories - which was also due to the strong hosts.

Hohenbachern

- Moderator Ralf Horneber brought the mood in the hall to a boil when the finalists were introduced with one sentence: “Hohenbachern against the rest of the world.” And Hohenbachern was actually supposed to keep “the world” in check.

A Swedish shooter prevented the home team from winning a triple

Sascha Bauer from the Swedish Riflemen Kranzberg was fourth best in the preliminary competition and had the psychological advantage of having won the last Freising district shooting.

He came third and prevented the home team from winning three times.

“The high ratings just wouldn’t fall,” said Bauer, who wanted more than bronze.

Winner Nikolaus Schulte had a tremendous run

Winner Nikolaus Schulte shot an impressively consistent competition.

On the home straight he could only have stopped himself.

With a pistol, however, there is always the risk of shooting six or seven rings.

But Schulte had a tremendous run.

Nothing burned anymore.

Konstantin Schulte also made the home team cheer.

He survived the first two eliminations, so that of the six remaining shooters, four came from Hohenbacher.

Then Christopher Borkowski's party began, as he celebrated lap after lap at the stand - until he secured fourth place.

Maximilian Kunz slipped into the role of the tragic hero when there were only two men left on the stand.

In the penultimate round he missed a shot - and with the resulting 0.0 rings the final was decided.

Champion Nikolaus Schulte was able to enjoy the last shot.

Then he confessed that “we had already celebrated the day before.

There have never been four of us in the final before.” And the winner then explained the plan for the decisive rounds: “We wanted to get one of us on the podium and not come last.

Now we have two on the podium and no one in last place.” His greatest sporting day was confirmation for the Edelweiss pistolero: “Training pays off at some point.”
