More than 30 years ago, Pe Werner had a big hit with “Tingling in the Stomach”.

Now the singer is back – what does she actually look like today?

Cologne – “That tingling in your stomach that you never forget / Like when you eat too much fizzybrew / This tingling in your stomach / You miss it too / Just bubbling over with happiness.” Who at the beginning of the 90s music – and above all Radio – can probably still sing along to this refrain.

It comes from the huge hit “Tingling in the Stomach” by Pe Werner (now 63).

The single, somewhere between pop and hit, stayed in the charts for a whopping 34 weeks in 1991, and the album of the same name also made it into the top 20 and was certified gold.

From hits to cabaret to jazz: Pe Werner has performed in different styles over the years

Pe Werner is now considered by many to be a one-hit wonder, even though she was subsequently able to place other songs such as “Trostpflastersteine” and “More” in the charts, as well as her albums.

Pe Werner never stopped making music, he also composed or wrote songs for others like Katja Ebstein (79) and Barbara Schöneberger (50), and published several books.

She worked on Mary Roos' (75) autobiography “Going Upright - My Dissolute Life”, published in 2022.

She also worked as an actress and in cabaret, as well as in jazz.

A song she composed almost ended up in the Eurovision Song Contest: with “Hinterm Ocean”, the interpreter Carolin Fortenbacher (now 60) narrowly failed in the German final with 49.5 percent to the No Angels.

By the way, Pe Werner is not a stage name: she was actually born as Pe Malou Werner in Heidelberg in 1960.

Werner grew up in the Odenwald in southern Hesse, where she graduated from the Martin Luther School in Rimbach.

The artist has lived in Cologne for many years.

Pe Werner announces album and tour – this is what it looks like today

Now the now 63-year-old wants to know again: She has announced her album “Vitamin Pe” for April 26, 2024.

She has rearranged and recorded her personal favorite songs from the collection of compositions and texts that she wrote for others.

“I had given it up for adoption and suddenly longed to sing it myself,” she explains.

The record was remarkably easy for her: “We recorded everything together in two days, and on the third day we did guitar and percussion overdubs and finally choir singing.

What you hear are all first takes.” To coincide with the release, her record company has also released numerous new photos (see above) - which show what Pe Werner looks like more than 30 years after “tingling in the stomach”.

Her eventful life should also be reflected on the album.

“I have always resisted having to fit into a box.

This is where all my colors come together, vocally and compositionally.” She also wants to bring the songs from her 35-year career to the stage: she has announced a dozen concert dates for October and November.

There was also a surprising sign of life recently from the pop legend Juliane Werding, who went underground in Starnberg.
