There will be 10.5 million Italians traveling for Easter.

92% will remain in Italy, while 8% will choose a foreign location.

It emerges from the investigation by Federalberghi through Tecnè.

The favorite destinations for travelers who will remain in Italy will be the sea (32.5%), the art locations (28.9%), the mountains (21.8%), the lakes (3.4%) and spa resorts (2.5%).

For those who will go abroad, the major European capitals win (74.4%), followed by cruises (10.2%) and the sea (6.3%).

Tourism confirms itself as an exceptional driver for the local economy, creating a turnover of 3.9 billion euros.

“It will be an Easter that will allow many Italian families to get together, and it will be lived in the name of sobriety: the sea, the cities of art, the mountains, the lakes and the spas of our country are the favorite locations.

Among Italians there is still a great desire for Italy and this trend is good for our tourism" comments the president of Federalberghi, Bernabò Bocca, on the data from the Tecnè survey.

“Finding ourselves facing a low Easter in 2024 – continued Bocca – we can undoubtedly say that the mountains retain their appeal for skiing and winter sports enthusiasts.

A good opportunity in this early spring, before the doors open to the heat of summer."

“For us, the Easter holidays represent a dress rehearsal in anticipation of the high season – concludes the president of Federalberghi – With all the necessary precautions, we can consider this decent performance as a good starting point for the summer of 2024”.

The holiday will have an average duration of 3.6 nights and the average per capita expenditure incurred (including transport, accommodation, food and entertainment) will be equal to 371 euros.

The turnover of 3.9 billion euros could have been even greater - underlines Federalberghi - if it had not been for the increase in the cost of living that is characterizing this period.

In fact, almost half of holidaymakers (44.1%) have decided to reduce spending on this holiday precisely because of this change.

The majority of travellers' spending will go towards meals (29.9%) and accommodation (23.0%).

Travel absorbs 22.6% of the budget, while 10.6% will be allocated to shopping.

Travel will be carried out mainly by car, the means preferred by the vast majority of travelers because it is considered the most convenient for getting around without time constraints, and perhaps also the least expensive.

The holiday was booked close to the departure date: 73.7% did so a maximum of one month before.

The main motivation for the Easter holiday will be rest and relaxation (57.8%), followed by fun (35.9%).

22.4% of Italians will take advantage of this opportunity to join their family.

Other reasons that guide the choice of holiday are food and wine interests (13.3%) and to see a new place (12.6%).

The main activities will consist of walks (70.9%), excursions and trips (39.6%), participation in food and wine events (31.9%) and traditional events (27.7%).
