Karlsfeld's only folk dance group d'Knödldrahra is celebrating its 30th anniversary in the St. Anna House.

Karlsfeld – The old stories are still the most beautiful.

They were revived at the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the Karlsfeld folk dance group d'Knödldrahra.

Gertrud Himmler, its long-time leader, explained with a smile how it came about.

At that time, Marita Eggebrecht's music school regularly organized a day of house music in the community center, with theater performances.

Once the parents whose children studied at this school also had a turn with a piece, the “Window Stick Hias”.

This is the story of a not-so-successful use of the Hias in windowing.

They were looking for a break filler for this two-act play.

A dance wouldn't be bad.

But the parents had no idea about Bavarian folk dancing.

So they asked Katharina and Otto Ahamer, who already had twelve years of dance experience with the Ampertaler Trachtenverein.

The performance in the community center was successful.

And even today we still fondly remember the exclamation of the then local councilor Georg Froschmayer: “This must continue!”

And so it continues.

On March 10, 1994, five couples founded the first and only folk dance group in Karlsfeld.

“They are part of the permanent cultural inventory in Karlsfeld,” said the second mayor Stefan Handl in the St. Anna house.

This became clear once again in a colorful photo show presented by Gerald Himmler.

The dance on May 1st, the open folk dance evenings, the settlers' festival, the Seh am See cultural festival.

For the 200th anniversary of Karlsfeld in 2002, the Knödldrahra performed for the first time with the Karlsfeld brass band.

Most of the time they were accompanied by Willi Stappert with his Styrian harmonica.

They have also carried the local tradition outside of their homeland, for example to the twin town of Muro Lucano.

They also enjoyed going to the Oidn Wiesn.

The predominantly older audience thoroughly enjoyed this 30-year look back and didn't skimp on comments like “we were still agile back then” or “look how young you used to be”.

For Gerald Himmler's 50th birthday in 2003, the ladies in the group did a can-can, which they had great fun with today when they watched the video: “Look at how we swing our skirts.

“I've already had a good level of fitness.” Now five couples still meet every week to practice to maintain their fitness.

They also laughed heartily at the many spelling and speaking variations of her name.

They came to this because they particularly liked dancing a mazurka from South Tyrol: the Knödldrahner.

“Drahner” became “Drahra” – which they found somehow more wiry, as they say.

Despite all the joy about the beautiful things they experienced together, this afternoon of memories also contained a bit of melancholy about the future.

The children's dance groups in primary school no longer exist, so there is a lack of young talent.

“After the fat years, the lean years now seem to be coming,” feared Gertrud Himmler.

But now they enjoyed their fellowship with some dances.

And they were happy about the service that Pastor Bernhard Rümmler held, surrounded - of course - by the brass band.

“St.

Anna,” said Gertrud Himmler gratefully, “has been our home for 30 years.” ELFRIEDE PEIL
