After 7 years of negotiations, a new collective agreement is about to be signed at the Broadcasting Corporation, but the Jerusalem Journalists Association is threatening to take legal action against the agreement, due to what they say is seen as a compromise on workers' rights.

On Thursday evening, the Jerusalem Association of Journalists appealed to the Organization of Journalists and the Organization of Media Workers, the representative organizations of the employees in the corporation, demanding to delay the signing of the new collective agreement.

This is a broad collective agreement, on which a complex negotiation has been held that has known ups and downs for seven years, is in its final stages, and a signing date has already been set for the end of the month. In the collective agreement, the workers are supposed to benefit from wage increases, a shorter work week, improved job security and a host of other issues regulated within The agreement.

The Jerusalem Association of Journalists is not the representative organization of the employees in the corporation, and does not group together workers in any media. The representative organizations in the corporation are the organization of male and female journalists who represent the journalists in the corporation and the organization of media workers which represents the employees of the headquarters and engineering.

The organization of journalists

and the organization of media workers stated in response: We are sorry that the association is trying to sabotage the most significant achievement of the employees in the corporation, an agreement that has been waiting for a long time under which the employees are supposed to receive significant wage increases, alongside the regulation of significant issues in the field of labor relations.

Due to the war, the signing of the agreement was delayed for several months, and any further delay in signing the agreement will first of all harm the employees of the corporation." The

Journalists' Association

stated: "Contrary to what was claimed by the Journalists' Organization, the Association has no desire to delay or harm the agreement, but the desire to end it as soon as possible cannot to justify such a great harm to the workers. For example, demands from the workers to engage in a profession that has no connection with their acquired and studied profession, a demand to waive clauses from the previous agreement that the organization signed, which constitutes a violation of the workers' rights in the automotive sector, and more. Particularly serious is the 'industrial silence' clause, which is completely one-sided. It prevents the employees from arguing against any harm to them and to our understanding also in relation to things that were not settled in the agreement, but for any reason, when on the other hand there is no commitment by the corporation to maintain the existing situation. Moreover, there is an intention to change it. Therefore, as we mentioned, the association has no objection to the agreement, but an uncompromising demand Improve it, in order to preserve the rights of the workers and prevent harm to them and the anchoring of this harm within the framework of the collective agreement."
