Highlights: After an engine burst: Hundham fire brigade pushes the bus off the road using just muscle power. After the passengers had safely left the bus, nine firefighters including district fire chief Christian Probst lined up at the rear - and pushed. “We didn’t want to cause any more costly emergency trips,” says fire department secretary Michael Gartmaier. The fire brigade has once again lived up to its name as the strongest force in the district, which it has carried since winning the fire brigade pulling rope in 2017.

A good 1.3 tons per man: the Hundham firefighters proved a lot of fat in an unusual rescue operation.

They pushed a damaged bus off the road.

Hundham

- It was a successful end to the season.

In South Tyrol, the members of the Leitzachtal Ski Club have said goodbye to winter.

But the bus ride home had a premature and unintentionally “hot” end.

Just a few kilometers before the destination - on the MB22 district road between Roßruck and Deisenried - the vehicle carrying a good 50 people suffered engine failure.

Smoke and even a few flames shot out of the stern.

But the Hundham Volunteer Fire Department was quickly on the scene - and used pure muscle power to ensure that the road was soon clear again.

The bus suffered an engine blowout.

“Strong moment” for Hundham fire department

Secretary Michael Gartmaier reported to our newspaper that it was a “strong moment”.

After the passengers had safely left the bus (and had also brought their skis to safety), nine firefighters including district fire chief Christian Probst lined up at the rear - and pushed.

“We didn’t want to cause any more costly emergency trips,” says Gartmaier, explaining the force’s hands-on approach.

And the firefighters actually managed to push the twelve-ton bus off the road and onto the Deisenrieder Wetterstollen parking lot right next to it.

Gartmaier proudly announces that the Hundham fire brigade has once again lived up to its name as the strongest force in the district, which it has carried since winning the fire brigade pulling rope in Schaftlach in 2017.

Meanwhile, the ski club members escaped with horror.

The bus company immediately had a replacement vehicle picked her up.
