Who will succeed Alfred Jocher as senior representative for the market town of Peiting?

Alfred Jocher held the position of senior representative on the Peitingen local council for four years.
But that is over now.
At the most recent meeting, the Council of Independents surprisingly announced its withdrawal from the post.
A successor solution is still open.
Peiting
- When the newly elected mayor Peter Ostenrieder made the reintroduction of speakers one of his first official acts in the Peiting local council after the 2020 local elections, it was immediately clear to the town hall boss which advice he wanted to present for the position of senior speaker.
With Alfred Jocher, he chose the oldest and at the same time one of the most experienced board members.

And in our Weilheim-Penzberg newsletter.
Hardly anyone would dispute that the Peitinger took the task assigned to him seriously.
As a contact person for older citizens, Jocher always had an open ear and regularly brought the concerns and wishes of senior citizens into local council meetings.
Jocher has always put his heart and soul into it, said Ostenrieder when he had to inform the committee last Tuesday that the senior representative was resigning from his position at his own request.
Alfred Jocher is no longer a senior speaker.

The town hall boss cited the complexity of the issues that were brought to Jocher's attention as the reason for the decision.
Doing justice to these many different interests was too demanding for one person, which is why the Independent Council “pulled the emergency brake”.
Ostenrieder said he respects this decision, even if he personally regrets it.
“But such a position should above all cause joy and not stress.”
Many appointments take up a lot of time
Jocher himself didn't want to add too much to that during the meeting.
It was nothing personal, he assured.
“I have come to the realization that the office should be put on a new footing after four years.”
In a conversation with the local newspaper, Peitinger becomes clearer and speaks of many appointments that have been added over time.
As a representative of the community, he feels it is his obligation to take action.
“If you're missing there, it's not good.” Whether it's invitations to clubs, exchanges with the senior citizens' center or neighboring communities: the field of activity has become more and more extensive.
In comparison to the daycare or sports departments, the seniors area is not an easily demarcated area.
“A lot goes into it, from care to dying, to traffic matters to sports,” says Jocher.
It is difficult for one individual to do justice to all of this.

A successor was not appointed at Tuesday's meeting.
Ostenrieder only announced that they were working on a timely solution.
But what could this look like?
Reference to other large municipalities in the Weilheim-Schongau district
Jocher refers to the large district municipalities of Schongau, Peißenberg and Penzberg, each of which has a senior citizens' advisory board.
He would find it a sensible development to introduce one in the market town.
“If a concern comes from an advisory board, it has more weight.” Peitinger can certainly imagine serving on such a committee again.
The local newspapers in the Weilheim-Schongau district are represented on Instagram under “merkur_wm_sog”.
In the town hall, however, people are cautious about this idea.
A senior citizens' advisory board is an option, but it is not a panacea, says the mayor.
In any case, the introduction of such a body would be something for the next electoral term, which, as we know, begins in two years.
“The new local council would have to think about whether they want that.” Until then, there should be an interim solution.
Ostenrieder doesn't want to reveal any details yet.
“Maybe we can present them at the next meeting.”
