Only one version of the story is known, since the airline - unknown until now - did not comment on the altercation.
According to the 65-year-old actor,
the crew kicked him out after he refused to sit next to a person who was wearing a face mask

The expulsion may also have had to do with the state of Smith, who, despite claiming that he was not drunk, did say that he had been drinking for hours at the airport.

He continued: “Yes, I have been drinking.
I've been sitting in an airport for three hours.
Yes, I'm drinking.
I'm not drunk, but they kick me off the plane because I'm drunk
, because you guys don't stand up and tell everyone what nonsense this is.
“I just told them I didn't feel comfortable sitting next to someone who had to wear a mask and got off the plane,” Smith concluded.

In 2022 he missed the Screen Actor's Guild

due to coronavirus protocols.
The event required guests to be vaccinated and have a negative Covid result.
