The fire department brought the serious apartment fire in Solingen under control this morning.
However, follow-up work was still underway, a fire department spokesman said at around 9 a.m.
The number of injured has increased to nine compared to initial information, he said.
These include two seriously injured and seven seriously injured.
Solingen - Three people were killed in the apartment fire, including a child.
They were found in the attic of the old building, the spokesman said.
One person is still missing.
It is suspected that the dead were members of a family.
According to him, the fire spread very quickly in the approximately 100-year-old house with wooden ceilings and a wooden staircase.
A person jumped out of a window to escape the flames.
