Israel's government has been talking about the planned ground offensive on Rafah for weeks.
Not only the Security Council is calling for a ceasefire, Baerbock is also warning Israel.
Cairo - At the start of her Middle East trip, Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock traveled to Egypt on Monday (March 25), where she met Egyptian Foreign Minister Samih Schukri to discuss, among other things, the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
During her visit to Egypt, Baerbock once again spoke out against an Israeli ground operation in the city of Rafah in the Gaza Strip.
“There cannot be a major offensive on Rafah,” she said on Monday at Cairo airport.
In the city, it is estimated that 1.5 million of the 2.2 million residents of the Gaza Strip are currently seeking protection from the fighting in other parts of the coastal area in a confined space.
According to Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, the army has drawn up plans to bring civilians to safety.

The Green politician also accused Israel of not distinguishing strongly enough between military and civilian targets.
This, as well as the terrible humanitarian situation, further promoted terror in the Gaza Strip, said Baerbock.
“It won’t free any hostages if children are currently starving in Gaza.”
UN Security Council calls for “immediate ceasefire” for the first time
On Saturday, UN Secretary General António Guterres visited the Egyptian side of the Rafah border crossing.
Most aid deliveries were supposed to reach the Gaza Strip via the border.
“Here we see the heartbreaking and heartlessness of it all,” Guterres said of the situation on the ground.
Any delivery across the border must be approved by the Israeli military.
The UN Secretary General called the situation a “moral disgrace.”
The UN Security Council passed a resolution on Monday calling for an “immediate ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip for the first time.
Baerbock calls for the situation in the Middle East: suffering should not be played off against each other
During her visit to Cairo, Baerbock advocated seeing the suffering on both sides and not playing it off against each other.
“We must do everything we can to ensure that the terrible situation for the people of Gaza finally ends.
And we must do everything we can to ensure that the families who have been waiting for their loved ones, their daughters, sons and parents for over five months, that these people finally come home and that the threat to Israel from the terrorist organization Hamas ends.”
