A Weyarner (37) got drunk in his car on Saturday evening - and promptly caused an accident.

He and his passenger were slightly injured.

The driver is now facing criminal proceedings.

- The cause of the accident seems obvious: heavily drunk, a 37-year-old BMW driver from Weyarn left the road on Saturday (March 23rd) and crashed into an excavator in the Am Weiglfeld industrial area in Weyarn.

According to police, the driver and his passenger, a 25-year-old from Warngau, sustained minor injuries in the collision.

According to the Holzkirchner police, the accident occurred on Saturday evening around 5:30 p.m.

The 37-year-old drove his BMW on the Am Weiglfeld road in the direction of State Road 2073 (Holzkirchner Road).

The Weyarner veered off the road to the left in a slight right-hand bend.

His BMW ended up crashing into an excavator parked on the left side of the road.

A 25-year-old man from Warngau was in the car.

According to the police, both people involved in the accident suffered minor injuries.

The entire front of the BMW was dented as a result of the impact.

The police estimate the damage to the car at around 25,000 euros.

While investigating the accident, officers discovered that the 37-year-old driver was obviously drunk.

A breath alcohol test subsequently carried out showed a value of over 1.0 per mille.

The police confiscated Weyarner's driver's license immediately after the accident, and he must expect his driving license to be revoked for a long period of time.

Investigations into a traffic hazard caused by alcohol have begun and a blood sample has been ordered.

The 37-year-old BMW driver is now facing criminal charges and a hefty fine, which could easily reach four figures.
