"It seems that there is no longer a qualified majority" in support of the "EU law on nature restoration. Hungary has changed its mind and we must understand why. It remains a priority for the Belgian presidency to bring the file to a conclusion and we will do our best to do so".
This was stated by the Belgian Minister of the Environment and rotating President of the EU, Alain Maron, arriving at the EU Environment Council underway today in Brussels.
The European ministers should have validated the agreement with the European Chamber on the regulation on nature restoration, but, having noted the absence of a qualified majority to support the agreement, the Belgian presidency of the EU decided on Friday not to put the item on the agenda.
