Everything points to the father.
An investigation into intentional homicide was opened after the discovery on Sunday of the bodies of a man and his three-year-old daughter in Lake Geneva, in Haute-Savoie, the Thonon-les-Bains public prosecutor said on Monday.
The father was 34 years old and his daughter was three years old, specifies France 3 Auvergne - Rhône-Alpes.
The bodies were discovered on Sunday by a walker, who had spotted the inflatable canoe of the two victims in the town of Meillerie.
The father is “suspected of being the author of the acts”, indicated Monday the prosecutor of Thonon-les-Bains, Bruno Badré, specifying that a search had been carried out in the morning at his home in Lugrin.
No information was given regarding the circumstances of the tragedy and the information which would allow the accidental theory to be ruled out.
Residents evacuated
A security perimeter had been set up the day before around the suspect's house, investigators fearing that it was trapped with gas or explosives, according to Le Dauphiné Libéré.
Around twenty local residents had to be evacuated.
Most spent the night in the town hall, indicates the local daily.
The investigations were entrusted to the Thonon-les-Bains research brigade and the Annecy criminal investigation unit.
