The channel was bubbling in Farchet until a few months ago.

However, the Loisach-Isar Canal has been carrying significantly less water since December - it is leaking in one place.

Approval is still missing for the hydroelectric power plant that has been planned in Wolfratshausen for years.

This should now be available in a few days.

Wolfratshausen – The Environment Minister is optimistic.

The approval should have been received by the district office by the end of the month, said Thorsten Glauber (Free Voters) a few days ago.

It is the letter that politicians, environmentalists and energy companies have been waiting for for years.

As reported, a specially founded company is planning a hydroelectric power plant in Wolfratshausen, in the Loisach-Isar Canal, between Waldram and Farchet.

Since then, the group has been waiting for progress.

Specifically, it's about the water law permit, which would have to be issued by the higher nature conservation authority.

The project operators have been calling for years to finally create the framework conditions for the turbines under the waterfall - but so far they have only achieved supportive commitments from local politicians instead of actual progress.

Dietramszell's mayor Josef Hauser recently campaigned for the construction.

He presented the Bavarian Environment Minister with a letter that all 21 mayors of the district had signed.

In it they called for the project to finally be accelerated.

Glauber was optimistic.

The water permit should be available this month.

It will then take another three years until the system is built.

We assume that the water management office is aware of the urgency and will provide us with the report as quickly as possible.

Marlis Peischer, press spokeswoman for the district office

The district office is currently still waiting for the document, as press spokeswoman Marlis Peischer explained when asked by our newspaper.

“The report must also comment on the statements and objections” that have been available since the end of October.

“However, this is still pending.

The existence of the report is a necessary prerequisite for the proceeding to proceed.” The district office takes the minister at his word.

“We assume that the water management office is aware of the urgency and will provide us with the report as quickly as possible.” (dst)
