Around Matabiau station, the Pink City continues to change.
In this district currently undergoing restructuring, the former buildings of the SNCF regional management, very close to the media library, will give way to a multimodal exchange hub which will ultimately connect the LGV and lines A and C of the metro in particular.
While the start of work is announced for 2026 with entry into service in 2028, it must respond to the expected increase in travelers, with 150,000 people expected per day by 2030.
In this context, a future building, called the Mobility Hall and supported by the Occitanie region to the tune of 61 million euros, was presented last Thursday in Toulouse.
The project selected is that of the BIG group and the Montpellier agency A + Architecture, who have designed a 4,400 m2 hub whose roof is reminiscent of the Concorde, an emblematic aircraft of the Toulouse aeronautical industry.
Particular attention was also paid to the choice of materials, with low-carbon wood construction.
“By adding emblematic architecture, such as the roof, the signature element of this project, we aim to strengthen the identity of Toulouse and give it a distinctive asset in its urban landscape,” explains Jacob Sand, architect from the BIG agency.

The Mobility Hall will also be the connection point with the Marengo bus station and a 1,000-seat bicycle station, in the basement, financed by Toulouse Métropole for 4 million euros.
“A considerable innovation in Toulouse”, according to Jean-Luc Moudenc, the president of the metropolis.
This building, on several floors, will also house services and shops, offices and the Occitanie Climate House.
For Carole Delga, president of the region, it will be “a driving force in terms of ecological transition” and “the beating heart of the future Matabiau station”.
