Four pentagons, four domes: the sophistication of the schoolhouse architecture is revealed from above.

The time of waiting is truly over, because the construction site at St. Martin's primary school is moving quickly.
It was only 20 months ago that the laying of the foundation stone was celebrated in front of the gaping construction pit.
Now the builder and project managers, craftsmen, parents' council and neighbors gathered to celebrate Hebauf.
And it's not just the rapid, planned construction progress that is astonishing, the walk through the building also reveals something quite uplifting.
Marktoberdorf
- Like an oversized spider's web, the sophisticated roof construction stretches over each of the four pentagons, which, when lined up with a slight curve, give the new school building its cubature.
Skylights, which are set in the four domes like keystones, allow light generously and brightly into the students' lounges.
They are called market squares and are adjoined by 12 classrooms, a gymnasium, after-school and exercise rooms, workshops and - yes, also the teacher's room, whose view to the south is magnificent over the city.

Project manager and architect Amica-Laura Westermayr is certain that building for education is of great importance and this school is a flagship.
She may agree with master carpenter Wolfgang Bichtele, who in his award ceremony spoke of a special house, “without which no one who wants to become something today can survive.”
Moving in summer 2025
This is not how just any school building is built in Marktoberdorf.
This also became clear on the morning of the topping-out ceremony.
Mayor Dr.
Wolfgang Hell proudly emphasized that more than one crisis (energy and steel crisis) had been overcome over the past 20 months and that the 35 million euro building was still on schedule.
The elementary school is scheduled to be completed by late spring 2025 and the move from the modular building will then be completed in the summer.
And for the 2025/26 school year, lessons will begin at the foot of the Schlossberg.

According to architect Fedor Kusmierz pragmatically, the building is currently half-tight and three-quarters of the complicated roof structure has been completed.
The interior work will start shortly.
Actually (but this was only mentioned in passing) an earlier completion date was originally planned.
However, according to the mayor, the city is not under time pressure due to the construction of a replacement school at Modeon.
“We can rely entirely on quality,” said Hell.
About the happiness of amazement
For headmaster Jörg Schneider, the time of waiting was now followed by the time of amazement.
He said in his speech that this sudden feeling can be learned from children in particular;
this treasure that draws attention to the world in all its size and diversity.
And so school is always a place for mutual learning, a place for relationships and a home.
He wanted the new school building to be a good place, a kind of home for the children and their teachers.

Not only their principal, but also the students had formulated their wishes and tied them in colorful ribbons to the topping-out tree.
But unlike their principal, perhaps less prosaic and more practical, they wanted their new school to have “a candy machine, a school dog and no more homework.”
