The body discovered at the end of December in a trunk in Moselle was identified as that of a 27-year-old man suffering from schizophrenia and missing since the summer of 2022, we learned on Monday from the Metz public prosecutor's office.

Two people, a man and his partner, are already indicted in this case.

The body is that of Guillaume Mongin, Thomas Bernard, deputy public prosecutor of Metz, told AFP, confirming information from Lorraine Actu.

Schizophrenic, he had been missing since August 28, 2022 after a walk in the forest in Val-et-Châtillon (Meurthe-et-Moselle), the town where he was from and located around twenty kilometers from Gondrexange, where the main suspect owned a small plot of land on the edge of a pond.

then placed in pre-trial detention. .

Their two children, aged 9 and 13, were placed in care, said the suspect's lawyer, Me Romain Hellenbrand, whose client was released and placed under judicial supervision on January 11.

His companion, who exonerated his partner while in police custody, is still in pre-trial detention.
