Princess Kate had a secret lunch with King Charles just hours before her shocking video.
It became highly emotional.
Windsor – In a groundbreaking video, Princess Kate (42) went public and, after weeks of silence, shared the unpleasant certainty: Yes, it is cancer in its early stages.
The wife of the heir to the British throne, Prince William (41), is receiving chemotherapy, as she announced in her video message published on Friday (March 22).
The diagnosis was a shock for the princess, but before she made the terrible news public, she met with King Charles (75) for a secret lunch.

So it wasn't her husband Prince William with whom the mother of three shared the moments before her shocking outing.
Charles, who is also suffering from cancer, arrived from London on Thursday (March 21) for a secret meeting with his "beloved daughter-in-law" Catherine.
Like her, he found out about his illness during an operation.

reports, Kate was keen to speak to William's father about his battle with cancer and find out how he was coping in her exposed position.

An insider said of the meeting at Windsor Castle: "It's highly unusual for just the two of them to be sitting together like this." It's safe to assume Kate and Charles also discussed the video announcement, which is said to be of great concern to Kate was, presumably to protect her children first and foremost.
The discovery of the cancer was a “big shock,” but she said she also told her children she would be “fine.”
