Wolfratshausen - The short return of winter with snow, sleet and rain showers caused numerous accidents on the A95 at the weekend with overall very high property damage.

Fortunately, none of those involved were seriously injured.

In all cases, according to the Weilheim Traffic Police (VPI) report, the cause of the accident was a speed that was not appropriate to the road and weather conditions.

A 39-year-old from the Northeim district was driving his car south on the highway around 9:50 a.m. on Sunday.

Shortly after the Schäftlarn junction, he slipped on the rain-soaked road and crashed his car into the car of a 59-year-old from Munich in front.

After the impact, the 39-year-old left the road to the left and hit the center guard rail with his car.

The 59-year-old's car spun on its own axis and came to rest in the right lane.

Both drivers and passengers remained uninjured.

The cars were no longer drivable and had to be recovered by a towing company.

The police estimate the total damage caused to be around 70,000 euros.

The road in the direction of Garmisch-Partenkirchen had to be closed for around 30 minutes while the accident was being recorded.

The fire departments from Wangen, Hohenschäftlarn, Starnberg and Berg were deployed to secure the scene of the accident.

37-year-old collided with a guardrail in his car: call for a towing service

There were two crashes near the mountain.

On Saturday around 6:25 p.m., a 37-year-old from the Munich district was driving his car towards Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Near the Höhenrain rest stop, his car skidded on the rain-soaked road due to improper speed.

The car hit three guardrail panels on its left side.

After the impact, the car was no longer drivable and had to be towed away.

The total damage in this case amounts to around 8,750 euros.

A 56-year-old from the Bad Tölz-Wolfratshausen district was also traveling significantly too fast towards Munich on Sunday around 11 a.m.

Shortly before the Schäftlarn junction, the woman skidded on the wet road and hit the guardrail.

The front area of ​​her car was damaged; the VPI estimates the repair costs at 5,000 euros.

However, the 56-year-old was able to continue driving.

Traffic police patrol officers escorted them to the Schäftlarn exit.

Due to the large number of traffic accidents - there were also crashes in Neuried and Iffeldorf - the external damage to the guard rail still needs to be determined, according to the VPI report.
