After a long and serious illness, Fritz Wepper died on March 25th.
In honor of the actor, ARD is now changing its program.
Munich – Acting legend Fritz Wepper is dead. On the morning of March 25th he died at the age of 82 in a hospice in Upper Bavaria.
“Fritz fell asleep peacefully,” said his wife Susanne Kellermann (49) to BILD.
After an obituary was shown on ARD on Monday evening, the station is now changing its Easter program in honor of the actor.

To remember Fritz Wepper, Das Erste will broadcast a 15-minute obituary (BR) entitled “Fritz Wepper – The Marathon Man” on March 25th at 10:50 p.m.
Afterwards, at 11:05 p.m., “Murder in the Best Company – Winter’s Last Case” will also be broadcast.
“With Fritz Wepper, a great popular actor and one of the defining faces of public television is leaving us,” said Alexander Bickel, head of the ARD joint editorial team for series in the main evening program, in a press release.
“Fritz Wepper played his way into the hearts of viewers as Mayor Wöller in the ARD series 'For Heaven's Sake' for over 20 years.
Incomparably cheeky, funny and touching, week after week he exchanged blows with the nuns Lotte and Hanna,” recalls Bickel.
“Millions of viewers loved him for it and will not forget him,” he is certain.

The actor Fritz Wepper also left some traces in Bad Tölz.
He had a connection to the city especially through his leading role in the anti-war film “Die Brücke”.
On the death of Fritz Wepper: ARD is showing “Lindburg's Fall” and “For Heaven's Sake” again at Easter.
That's exactly why ARD is now changing its Easter program.
On Good Friday (March 29th) Das Erste will show the crime comedy “Lindburgs Fall” with Fritz Wepper in the lead role at 3:20 p.m. and immediately afterwards the last two episodes of the series “For Heaven's Sake”.

Fritz Wepper was considered to be completely untreated because medication no longer worked for him.
The actor had been struggling with his health for a long time - the cause of Fritz Wepper's death remains unknown for the time being.
