The Minister of Security Patricia Bullrich presented this Monday a complaint against the former Secretary of Human Rights

Horacio Pietragalla Corti

.

In it, she accuses him of

treason, abuse of authority and violation of the duties of a public official, allegedly committed within the framework of the case that the family of Santiago Maldonado initiated against Argentina before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.

As detailed by the Security portfolio in a statement, the former official of the government of Alberto Fernández, made in May 2022 "a presentation before the aforementioned international organization, in which

he assumed, as a representative of the Argentine State, the responsibility of our country in the death of Santiago Maldonado

."

In the complaint,

the minister points out that Pietragalla asserted false facts and hid authentic facts

, duly accredited in the judicial investigation, and that this was done with the alleged intention of involving her, as Minister of Security at the time of the events, in alleged illicit conduct in the search and administrative investigation arising from the disappearance of Maldonado.

"In his presentation, Pietragalla affirms that, with the consent of Minister Bullrich, the State 'hid evidence?, 'planted false leads' and 'did not allow family members access to relevant information about the search for Maldonado,'" 'They were not even allowed to participate in the main search measures.' In the complaint,

the minister states that all of this is absolutely false

, since the Maldonado family had a crucial participation in the search and subsequent discovery of the young man's body. since he was able to intervene directly at the scene of the events, and even direct the operation to extract the body from the Esquel River and accompany its transfer to the morgue," detailed the Ministry of Security.

Always according to Bullrich's complaint, the relatives participated in the autopsy along with fifty-four other people, in which they approved the conclusions of drowning by immersion without the intervention of third parties.

"With these false statements, Pietragalla would not only incur a violation of his public duties, but would also commit treason to the country, since he commits the Argentine Republic before the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, which can sanction our country and force to compensate the next of kin," concludes the official statement.
