After more than five months of war,
the UN Security Council on Monday adopted its first resolution calling for an "immediate ceasefire" in Gaza,
a call blocked on several occasions by the United States, which on this occasion abstained.
The resolution, adopted with 14 votes in favor and one abstention, "demands an immediate ceasefire for the month of Ramadan" - which began fifteen days ago - leading to a lasting truce, and "demands the immediate and unconditional release of all the hostages."
