Ambassador Erdan turns to the Chinese ambassador to the Security Council/Walla system!
The UN Security Council is expected to vote at 4:00 p.m. Israel time on a proposed resolution that demands an immediate cease-fire in the Gaza Strip during the month of Ramadan, as well as the immediate and unconditional release of all the abductees, according to the draft resolution received by Walla.
why is it important
Senior Israeli officials said that at this stage the US is not expected to veto the proposed resolution because it ties a ceasefire to the release of the abductees. Russia is also not expected to veto the resolution because it does not directly condemn Hamas for the October 7 attack.
If the resolution passes, it will be the first time since the beginning of the war that the Security Council adopts a resolution calling for a ceasefire.
