The weather will gradually deteriorate this Monday.
Rain will arrive from the south and west of the country.
Near the Mediterranean, strong winds will also accompany this precipitation, leading to Météo France triggering an orange alert (level 3 out of 4) in Hérault for Tuesday.
The department is concerned by a wave-submersion risk alert.
Nearby, those of Gard, Bouches-du-Rhône, Aude and Pyrénées-Orientales are placed on yellow vigilance (level 2 out of 4) for the same reason.

Météo France explains that this alert goes hand in hand with a strengthening of the wind during the night from Monday to Tuesday in the sector.
“It generates strong waves reaching the coast of Languedoc at the end of the night.
In addition, atmospheric conditions are causing a significant rise in sea level." The meteorological organization warns of a risk of "submersion by crossing sea waves on exposed areas of the coastline."
Weather degradation
This situation is linked to a more general deterioration of the weather from this Monday evening.
For Tuesday, Météo France is currently placing the lower Rhône valley on yellow alert due to rain and the risk of flooding.
Ardèche, Lozère, Gard and Hérault are affected.
Further west, the Pyrénées-Atlantiques are also affected.

In addition, a strong wind sets in in the south of the country from the end of the day Monday.
Gusts of between 60 km/h and 70 km/h are expected near the Mediterranean as well as around the Pyrenees, a little more in Aude and Haute-Garonne.
The wind strengthens on Tuesday, particularly in the Hérault sector where gusts of at least 90 km/h are expected to occur in the morning.
Yellow level vigilance is currently planned in nine departments of the seaside, Occitanie and the Rhône valley.

Finally, this precipitation will cause a risk of avalanches in the Alps and the Pyrenees.
These two massifs will pass almost entirely on yellow alert on Tuesday for this reason.
