If your child regularly uses screens at home, this is a program that might interest you.

This week in Paris, a succession of free workshops are being held.

Activities which aim to “become familiar with online platforms and applications used by young people”, indicates the City of Paris, and “to promote the development and well-being of children in the digital age”.

200 events dedicated to parents and their children are planned for this unprecedented week of “digital parenthood”, until Saturday March 30.

These take place in many places: schools and nurseries, social centers, Paris Anim centers, toy libraries and district town halls.

Several partners are participating, including the operator Orange.

The latter deploys its teams in five districts to raise awareness of the dangers of digital technology and also its advantages.

Virtual reality, coding…

“We are organizing an Escape Game aimed at 9-14 year olds,” explains Séverine Guillemet, CSR manager at Orange Île-de-France.

It exposes the good uses of digital technology, the dangers of fake news, cyberharassment, the effects of long exposure to screens on health, the impact of the volume of headphones, for example.

One of the objectives of this week is also to raise awareness of new uses of digital technology and the most recent technologies.

Thus, the Eternal Notre-Dame experience, which immerses the viewer in the history of the cathedral thanks to virtual reality, is included in the program.

“A short version of 5 minutes allows children to discover virtual reality,” explains Séverine Guillemet.

Among the other activities included in this program, practical workshops with Ze Fab Truck will present laser cutting and 3D printing to young people and their parents.

The Colori company teaches children aged 3 and over to code without a screen.

“Digital technology is also a source of openness to the world, with easy access to culture, communication, and brings numerous opportunities,” writes the City on its website.
