With eleven star restaurants, Lower Saxony also has something to offer culinary enthusiasts.

There is a special award for a top chef from Wolfsburg.

Aerzen/Wolfsburg/Hamburg - Top gastronomy in Lower Saxony has brought back an award: The newly designed “Hilmar” restaurant in Aerzen (Hameln-Pyrmont district) received another star in the new “Michelin Guide” for 2024, which was presented in Hamburg on Tuesday.

According to the Michelin restaurant critics, the best restaurant in Lower Saxony remains the Wolfsburg “Aqua” with the team around chef Sven Elverfeld this year.

It is currently the only three-star restaurant between Ems and Elbe.

Elverfeld was also awarded the “Mentor Chef Award”.

Since 2000, Elverfeld has shared his wealth of experience with numerous chefs and has thus rendered outstanding service to the next generation of gastronomers, it was said.

In the category of two-star restaurants, the “Jante” and the “Votum” - both in the state capital Hanover - were able to maintain their position.

When it comes to restaurants with one star, the people of Lower Saxony now have a choice of eight restaurants: In addition to the “Hilmar” in Aerzen, which has been added again, these are the “Sterneck” in Cuxhaven, the “Handwerk” in Hanover, the “Seesteg” on Norderney, the “ Apicius” in Bad Zwischenahn (Ammerland district) and the three Osnabrück restaurants “Friedrich”, “IKO” and “Kesselhaus”.

Sad news, however, for the “Genießer Stube” in Friedland near Göttingen: The restaurant lost its star this year.

By awarding the “Green Star” the makers of the “Guide Michelin” want to honor restaurateurs for their efforts to increase sustainability.

This year the “Regional Friesoythe” in Friesoythe (Cloppenburg district) was added to this category.

The “Flux - Biorestaurant Werratal” in Hann also has a “Green Star”.
