Defeat for Vladimir Putin: Ukraine was reportedly able to damage a third Russian warship in an attack in occupied Crimea.
Sevastopol - Violence is omnipresent in Russia: In the Ukraine war, thousands of soldiers are dying for the imperialism of Kremlin autocrat Vladimir Putin, while the suspected and insidious terrorist attack near Moscow has (also) left the country in a state of shock.
Ukraine War: Heavy air strike on the Russian Navy in Crimea
Just a few hours after the terrorist attack on defenseless civilians in a concert hall in Krasnogorsk on the outskirts of the capital on Friday evening (March 22nd), the Russian armed forces apparently had to attack Crimea, which they occupied in violation of international law, on Saturday night (March 23rd). withstand violent air strikes.
According to the military in Kiev, two large Russian warships were hit in the night air raid on the port city of Sevastopol.
These were the landing ships “Yamal” and “Azov” of the Black Sea Fleet.
That's not all: As the
Kyiv Post
reported on Monday afternoon (March 25), the Russian reconnaissance ship “Iwan Churs” could also have been damaged in the attack.
Vladimir Putin's Black Sea Fleet: Allegedly third warship hit
Ukrainian Navy spokesman Dmytro Pletenchuk said this on
Radio Svoboda
.
“It was only this morning that I confirmed the damage to the two ships 'Yamal' and 'Azov',” he said: “Now there are also concerns (on
the Russian side, editor's note
) about possible damage to the ship 'Ivan Khurs'.
We are currently working to verify this information.”
The estimated 95 meter long and 16 meter wide “Iwan Churs” was only put into service in May 2018 and is therefore a comparatively modern Russian warship.
The second ship of the “Yuri Ivanov Class”, like its sister ship, the “Yuri Ivanov”, is used for surveillance and telecommunications reconnaissance of enemy control technology as well as electronic warfare.

Russian troops in Crimea: Storm Shadows and Scalp are causing problems
For self-defense, the Russian ship (around 130 crew) is armed with heavy machine guns of the “Vladimirov KPW” type with a caliber of 114 millimeters.
For anti-aircraft defense, however, only shoulder-launched anti-aircraft missiles of the “9K38 Igla” type from the 1980s are available.
These air defense missiles have to be operated manually by the Marines.
According to Ukrainian intelligence, the landing ship “Yamal” suffered a hole in the upper deck as a result of the attack, which is why the warship broke away to starboard.
The information cannot be independently verified.
It is likely that the powerful cruise missiles “Storm Shadow” and/or “Scalp-EG” were used again in the recent attack on the Russian Black Sea Fleet.
At least this is what military bloggers close to the Ukrainian army wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Explosions reported in Sevastopol: Ukraine attacks Russian Crimean troops
Among other things, a video was shared on X (see tweet above) that is supposed to show how the Western cruise missiles used by the Ukrainians hit military buildings in Sevastopol - with violent explosions.
The Ukrainian military had already announced that command points and communications facilities of the Russian Black Sea Fleet were also attacked from the air.
This information cannot be independently verified either.
The Kremlin's troops have long been under heavy pressure in Crimea, which was invaded by Russia in the spring of 2014, because they can't seem to find a way to defend themselves against the "Storm Shadows" and "Scalp-EG" fired by Ukrainian fighter jets.
The Ukrainian online portal
The New Voice of Ukraine (NV)
published a map on its social media channels in mid-January, according to which only 22 warships of the Russian Navy between the Sea of Azov and the Black Sea had either been significantly damaged up to that point or were even completely sunk - for example, the heavy missile cruiser “Moskva” in April 2022.
