A touching evening at the start of Holy Week in the Valley: With the Passion in Bavarian, speaker Klaus Wittmann, singers and guitarists revealed new sides of Jesus' suffering.

Valley

– “It is finished!!”.

These were Jesus' last words on the cross.

At the beginning of Holy Week, a moving event took place on Palm Sunday in the Zollingerhalle of the Organ Center in Valley: Klaus Wittmann read the Passion of Jesus in a version in the Bavarian dialect by Herbert Regele.

The Inntal singers and the guitar duo Neumaier provided the event “I give mi in your hands” musically – intimately and fervently.

If a pin had fallen that afternoon in the “Klangwunder” Zollingerhalle – it would have been heard.

This was ensured by six men on stage who caressed the ears of the 170 visitors with words and sounds and opened their hearts.

Klaus Wittmann, one of the most prominent speakers in Bavaria and deeply rooted in his language and literature, performed the Passion with all his vocal and dramaturgical depth, class and experience.

Embedded in the music, he divided it into seven sections: The Last Supper.

On the Mount of Olives.

Peter.

One of the high council.

Judas.

At the cross.

The mother.

Regele lets each protagonist speak as a human being with all their doubts, fears, weaknesses and needs.

This also reveals sides that you may not have known before, or at least so clearly.

“I leave it, I give it into your hands,” says Jesus on the Mount of Olives.

“A fiery cowardice, a festering luag”!

This is how Peter describes his illness, which causes him to deny Jesus three times in quick succession.

And Judas almost tears himself to pieces by exclaiming: “Why did I raise this, so that Deifi would eat into my heart?” The force and power, but also the delicacy of the old Bavarian language, developed an additional effect in these and other scenes .

Wittmann charmingly announced the Inntal singers as those “who don’t slow down even as they get older.”

Peter Anderl (first voice and zither), Franz Singer (second voice) and Sepp Wieland (third voice) have been singing together for 65 years, have received numerous awards and been sent to international festivals by Bayerischer Rundfunk as ambassadors of genuine folk music.

Their voices are still firm and clear, their harmony balanced and fine.

With traditional Bavarian songs such as “We believe in you, God and Lord”, “Most beautiful Jesus in my eyes” and “O Jesus, where are you going?” They complemented Wittmann's spoken word with harmonious singing that was touching.

This also applies to the renowned guitar duo Neumaier from Dachau.

Heinz and Peter Neumaier, who have been musically together since 1980, gave the listener time to absorb, process and internalize what they heard with their traditional tunes and folk music pieces.

In their solemn country songs, tunes and minuets they impressed with their high level of musicality and intimate interaction, with many of their pieces coming from themselves and often being influenced by the great Tobi Reiser.

The applause was long, appreciative and honest.

One could hardly imagine a more suitable start to Holy Week.

The net proceeds from the event go to the Sternstunden charity association.
