The video of the impressive exit of the road of a gendarmerie car on a roundabout in Ifs (Calvados) has been viewed several million

The scene is spectacular.

On a short video, obviously from video surveillance, we see a police car, a Peugeot 3008, entering an Ifs roundabout (Calvados) at full speed to try to catch up with another vehicle, a Volkswagen Golf, driving on the run at very high speed.

But suddenly, the gendarme driving the marked car obviously brakes too late, misses the turn and rolls over in the middle of the vegetation of the roundabout.

Fortunately none of the three gendarmes on board were injured.

However, the video of the accident has attracted millions of Internet users in recent days.

However, its distribution is completely illegal.

An internal investigation to determine where the leak came from

The images in fact come from the video surveillance network of the North-West Interdepartmental Roads Directorate (Dirno) and very probably therefore from one of its agents.

However, assures Dirno, “these videos are subject to a very strict regime of use.

Only authorized people can, within the framework of their duties, view video surveillance images.

They are therefore in no way intended to be distributed.

» The department's management therefore launched an internal investigation to determine where this leak could come from.

The prefecture, for its part, filed a complaint.

The person who distributed the images on the Internet now risks up to three years in prison and a fine of 45,000 euros.

Finally, note that the fugitives behind the chase have not yet been arrested.
