Transforming post-consumer Pet trays into new sustainable solutions: this is the challenge taken up by Corepla, the national consortium for the collection and recycling of plastic packaging and Sustainable Ethical Recovery spa" for an increasingly circular management of the end of life of plastic packaging used in food sector and which aims to raise awareness among companies, institutions and citizens of the importance of recycling materials, promoting a culture of shared environmental responsibility".
"In the last year we have started recycling around 9,000 tonnes of PET trays and we want to redefine the future of this packaging" declared Giovanni Bellomi, director of Corepla, explaining that the partnership with Res aims to contribute to "closing the circle of the circular economy by reducing waste to a minimum waste, maximizing the recycling of materials with a view to environmental and social sustainability".
The Res research and development center, the Molise innovator located in Pozzilli and listed on Euronext Growth Milan - we read in the note - develops technological processes for the treatment and transformation of PET trays and deals with "the entire waste management process with a sustainable approach: from selection to treatment and transformation, functional to the regeneration, recycling and reuse of waste as raw production materials" explains CEO Antonio Lucio Valerio, noting that "today we are able to transform waste into precious resources".
Thanks to this collaboration, the note concludes, it will be possible to improve collection and recycling practices in order to increase the recovery percentages of plastic packaging, in harmony with the objectives established by European legislation.
