A deer that had become a tourist attraction in Cortina d'Ampezzo after roaming through the fruitstalls in the markets of the Jewel of the Dolomites has been moved to nearby woods for its own and people''s good, civil protection pointman Stefano Ghezze said Tuesday.
"Isaia has been growing a new rack of antlers, in the last few days, so the decision to move him away has been an excellent operation, in the interest of the community and for the deer's own health," Ghezze told the Corriere del Veneto newspaper .
Ghezze explained that there were fears that Isaia might get hurt as he grew bigger and there might be "unforeseeable events" linked to his proximity to him with Cortina's population.
Tourists and locals have been taking selfies with the deer since they first came into the city markets last year.
