Eleven people were indicted in connection with gun violence committed between March 11 and 24 in Dijon, the Dijon prosecutor announced this Monday.
For two weeks, the metropolis has witnessed a wave of violence, notably leaving two people aged 15 and 19 dead.
“To date (Monday), 11 people are indicted on various charges, including homicide by an organized gang, attempted homicide by an organized gang, criminal association, dangerous damage to people
,” specifies Olivier Caracotch in a press release.
Nine individuals were placed in pre-trial detention and two under judicial supervision.
The prosecutor does not give the details of the indictments by file which are processed
“at this stage”
in separate procedures, but recalls that since March 11 a series of violent events have followed one another.
Latest to date, Sunday evening, a person was shot and injured in Fontaine d'Ouche, a district known for its deal points.
Lost bullet
On March 15, a 19-year-old young man was stabbed to death in Talant (Côte d'Or).
Four people, including three minors, were arrested as part of this investigation.
Two days later, a 15-year-old teenager, known to the police, was killed by gunfire in the same town bordering Dijon.
The prosecution then indicated that the death had
“a probable link with drug trafficking”
.
Here again, four people were arrested, aged between 25 and 44.
The violence against a backdrop of drug trafficking had also caused, at the end of November, the death of a father, the victim of a stray bullet while he was sleeping in his apartment located just above a drug dealing point. .
The Dijon area is one of the points targeted in the “XXL square net” anti-drug operations launched on Monday in several cities in France.
