Essonne: in the sights of elected officials for thirty years, the Seveso Antargaz site announces its closure

It's now official.

In a letter sent on February 8 to elected officials as well as to the Essonne prefecture, Antargaz announced the cessation within three months of the activity of its liquefied gas depot, classified Seveso 2 “high threshold”.

Opened in 1964, it is the largest gas storage site in Île-de-France.

We remember the explosion at the AZF factory in September 2021 which caused the death of thirty people and devastated the southern districts of Toulouse (Haute-Garonne).

Or, more recently, the fire which struck the Lubrizol site in Rouen (Seine-Maritime).
