The Pöcking brass band gave a wonderful spring concert in the Beccult.

It was the first performance for the youth brass band.

Pöcking

– “Come with me to Italy for a bit”: You didn’t have to think long about this invitation at the weekend, because in this case “Italy” was in Pöcking and the fellow travelers were the Pöcking brass band with youth band and drummer procession.

At their spring concert they thrilled the audience in around three hours with brass music in a completely different way, with rousing Italian melodies, loud and quiet, fabulous singing, fascinating solo performances and beautiful songs in German and Italian.

The whole evening was as sparkling as the Italian aperitif, also thanks to the humorous moderation by Ludwig Gansneder.

It was a premiere for the 13-member youth orchestra, conducted and with arrangements by Lukas Bruggaier, which passionately played the songs “Felicità”, “Volare” and – absolutely fantastically – “Il Silenzio” at the opening.

Conductor Markus Maier brought the band to top performance; his conducting was as lively as the music, which reflected Italy's joy of life.

The Florentine March led to the overture of the opera Nabucco, followed by a particularly difficult piece “Tesoro mio” (my darling), a wonderful concert waltz.

The striking Sabine Scherer sang a Caterina Valente medley.

The singer, known from the Ochsenbraterei at the Oktoberfest, enriched the evening with her wonderful voice.

Everyone wanted to sing along to “Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Honolulu Beach Bikini.”

The greeting from chairman Sebastian Scheck, who was pleased that the hall was full, was also Italian.

He and his deputy, Anna Wolff, presented honors after the break.

“It is a special honor for us to now introduce the honorary members,” he said and honored Gerd Zingraff and Hans Spitzer, who have been with the band since it was founded in 1959.

Cultural officer and second mayor Albert Luppart pointed out the importance of the newly founded circle of friends, which is intended to support the orchestra.

A winner was drawn by Katrin Sapper from the registrations for the circle of friends.

Sepp Mörtel wasn't there, but Anna Wolff reported with laughter that he had read about the new company in Starnberger Merkur that morning, immediately requested an application form and now even won.

The lively piece “La Marcia della Dolce Vita” (“The March of the Sweet Life”), composed by 36-year-old Mathias Eggenhofer, had a world premiere.

He conducted himself and formulated his intention clearly: “I want to put the music, the melodies that are within me, into a musical guise and use it to give people joy.” He completely succeeded.

“O Sole Mio”, arranged by Lucas Bruckmeyer, received thunderous applause for this first appearance with the soloists Lukas Bruggaier, Hans Engesser, Thomas Knill and Marc Stürzenberger.

The film music “The Ecstacy of Gold” by Ennio Morricone, played together with the drummer procession, was just as exciting as “Theater Godfather of Seville” from the film “The Godfather”.

“Czardas” also received great applause with Korbinian Stöckerl’s solo.

The Italian sung medley “Italia, ti amo” by the passionate Sabine Scherer together with “Snoopy” Christian Schmid, accompanied by the clapping audience, was also wonderful.

This was followed by the catchy tunes “Una Notte Speciale”, “Semper, semper” and “Gloria”.

A happy and musically successful evening.
