Start of the season on Lake Tegernsee: Shipping has resumed its scheduled operations just in time for the start of the Easter holidays.
The fleet was brought into shape during the winter break.
Tegernsee
– Passenger ships have been sailing on Lake Tegernsee again since Saturday (March 23rd).
A popular attraction among excursionists and holidaymakers.
Initially, says operations manager Stephan Herbst, three ships from the Tegernsee fleet will operate on the lake, and from April 27th all four ships will be in service again.
The MS Rottach-Egern should also be ready for use by then.
“We’re still waiting for a spare part here,” reports Herbst.
The ships “Kreuth” and “Gmund” received a new coat of paint
In general, shipping carried out numerous maintenance and repair measures over the winter.
For example, the two small passenger ships MS Kreuth and MS Gmund received a completely new coat of paint – “from head to toe,” as Herbst reports.
There were new open deck roofs for the large ships.
Staffing levels are also thin at Tegernsee Shipping
The fleet is therefore well prepared for the new season.
But what about the staff?
“Theoretically, we are currently full and can drive normally,” says the operations manager.
However, the shortage of skilled workers is also noticeable in shipping; there is not a large buffer in terms of staffing levels.
“Everyone who fails hurts us,” admits Herbst.
By the way: Because of the mild weather, the company sent a ship on a tour on two weekends in March this year before the official start of the season.
A kind of soft opening.
“It was extremely well received,” said Herbst.
