There, it's done !

Karl Lagerfeld's 260 m2 apartment, located at 17 quai Voltaire in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, fetched 10 million euros this Tuesday morning following a notarial auction which lasted 19 minutes.

A sale which took place at the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The starting price of this vast three-room apartment that looks like a spaceship, with a breathtaking view of the Seine and the Louvre, was set at 5.3 million euros.

An amount (20,700 euros/m2) already higher than the average price recorded at this address by the property valuation site Meilleurs Agents (17,663 euros/m2).

“This property is extraordinary both in terms of its location, its size and the personality who lived there,” argues Thomas Jousselin, notary associated with the Althémis firm, in charge of the sale.

A very select auction

The iconic fashion designer, who died in 2019, lived the last years of his life there.

While the building dates from 1694, the apartment, located on the third floor, breaks all the codes of the old: no moldings but a false white ceiling with backlighting systems in places, no parquet but a wooden floor. resin and gray concrete.

Everywhere: white.

Sections of bookcases adorn each side of the main room of 120 m2.

Simple removable glass panels separate the living room from the bedroom where the fashion designer slept.

A bathroom with a large white bathtub, as well as a modest-sized stainless steel kitchen and a huge dressing room of 50 m2 complete this atypical property.

The auction was chosen "for the sake of efficiency", to allow wide publicity both nationally and internationally and thus make it possible to achieve the best price, according to Thomas Jousselin.

“On the other hand, it is a transparent and fair method because everyone is there at the same time to bid,” adds the professional.

To participate in the sale, you had to pay a deposit of 1,060,000 euros, or 20% of the starting price.
