There is little scope for investment in Kranzberg.

The Kranzberg local council approved the budget for 2024 with two votes against.
However, due to increased costs, investments have to be limited.
Kranzberg
- The 2024 budget is in place, the local council complied with a recommendation from the finance committee and approved the budget on Tuesday - mind you, without requests to speak and another debate.
However, there were two dissenting voices.
“Limit to measures that are absolutely necessary”
The budget totaling 16.2 million euros is on edge.
There is little scope for investment.
A transfer from the administrative budget to the asset budget is not possible.
Instead, it's the other way around.
Of the assets budget, 263,000 euros go to the administrative budget to cover ongoing costs.
In her preliminary report, treasurer Angelika Huber blames the extremely increased energy costs and the increase in personnel costs.
She also points out that the planned investments have been “limited to the absolutely necessary measures”.
The total investments this year amount to 5.1 million euros.
There are no plans to take on new debt.
The debt level even falls from 3.9 to 3.7 million euros.
This is offset by reserves amounting to 3.1 million euros, which will not be touched but will even be increased by 500,000 euros.
All of this was only possible because some costly projects were excluded, i.e. postponed, in the finance committee.
Examples include the expansion of the dam and the heating systems in the town hall and fire station (we have reported).
The biggest item is school expansion
However, the committee was less concerned about the 2024 budget than the investment plan up to 2027. By far the largest item is the school expansion with an estimated six million euros.
Voices were raised calling for strict austerity measures.
Andreas Adldinger (CSU) warned of rising debts.
Mayor Hermann Hammerl countered that all municipalities are currently struggling with finances.
Anton Hierhager (SPD) said Adldinger was “basically right”.
Either you save or find “ways to achieve more growth again,” he stated with regard to the recently stagnating trade tax.
Florian Vierthaler (KGL) also believes that “reducing major projects” is the order of the day.
He explicitly alluded to school expansion and all-day care.
A message from manager Theresa Schmid came at just the right time.
At an information meeting in the district office on the topic of “all-day care”, it became clear that under certain circumstances existing classrooms could also be used for this purpose and that fewer specialist staff might be required than expected.
There is also the possibility of offering the offer either as part of the after-school care or lunchtime care.
Separate all-day care is therefore not absolutely necessary.
Good news, as Roland Haslbeck (CSU) found.
Maybe money can be saved and the budget situation improved, according to Haslbeck's calculations.
