Fans of “Let’s Dance” will have to wait another week.

The RTL show takes a break on Good Friday.

What does this have to do with German legislation?

Cologne – Since February 23, 2024, “Let's Dance” has been part of the usual Friday evening program on RTL, like every year.

After episode four there is a break, the next live show with presenters Daniel Hartwich (45) and Victoria Swarovski (30) will not take place again until April 5th.

Good Friday, which is probably a work-free day for most viewers, would be a good day to attract large numbers of viewers to the TV.

What's behind it.

Dancing on “Let's Dance” falls victim to the law

In the Italo special in episode four on March 23, 2024, actress Lina Larissa Strahl (26) had to leave the show.

Her competitors, comedienne Maria Clara Groppler (25) and “Lion's Den” juror Tillman Schulz (34) as well as model Eva Padberg (44) had previously met.

RTL viewers will only find out after a week's break which celebrities can continue to improve their appearance.

The popular show falls victim to the legal ban on dancing on Good Friday.

More time to practice for the other prominent participants such as ex-“Popstars” juror Detlef Soost (53), who is currently still working on a “fusion” with professional dancer Ekaterina Leonova (36).

German law also applies to TV shows.

Good Friday is a “quiet holiday” in Germany because, true to the church’s origins, the crucifixion of Jesus is commemorated.

However, the rules vary depending on the federal state.

Public dance events in particular are prohibited, but in some places also sporting events.

Bavaria handles the regulation comparatively strictly and even includes Maundy Thursday and Easter Saturday.

There is a general ban on musical performances of any kind in bar rooms on these days.

In contrast, the federal state of Berlin, with its diverse club landscape, implements the law more loosely, but people still dance and party in a number of clubs and discos.

The ban only applies there until 9 p.m. on Good Friday.

The Cologne-based broadcaster RTL is participating in the dance ban because the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia is also consistently handling the dance ban.

So far, a dance episode has never been filmed live on Good Friday in the MMC studios in Cologne-Ossendorf.

Instead of the show on March 29, 2024, a “Let's Dance” special will be shown.

At 8:15 p.m. “The Magic Moments of the Professionals” will be shown on the channel and at the same time as a live stream on RTL+.

The show is a recording in which each professional dancer chats about their favorite moments from the show from the past 18 years.

Faces that have been known and appreciated by fans for years, such as Massimo Sinató (43) and Ekaterina Leonova (36), will certainly be there.

The usual live show from the studios in Cologne will take place again on April 5th, when the remaining ten couples, including Maite Kelly's (44) nephew Gabriel (22), fight for the title “Dancing Star 2024”.

Former show participant Mickie Krause recently revealed what happens behind the scenes of “Let’s Dance”.
