In the past few weeks, the top two centimeters of turf have been milled off with a special machine, said the club boss.

The underlying turf base layer, approximately 20 centimeters deep, was removed.

The contracted company, Hallertauer from Mainburg, has transported the material away and will reuse it.

At the same time, the gravel for the new substructure was delivered.

A new drainage system is currently being installed as planned.

In the coming weeks, the subsurface will be completed, including a fine subgrade on which the actual artificial turf from Polythan will be incorporated.

Overall, the sports club expects construction to take around three months, so the pitch could be ready by the end of May.

It costs around 865,000 euros, part of which is covered by subsidies.

At the same local council meeting, the association asked for a loan to purchase a robotic lawnmower from Husqvarna for the real grass areas.

The device gives the volunteers some breathing space again, because mowing is extremely time-consuming, writes the SVM.

The robot, including all technology, installation and software, costs 30,000 euros.

In order not to run into liquidity problems despite the construction of artificial turf, the club is applying for an interest-free loan of 25,000 euros, which is to be repaid in five annual installments.

Helge Strauß (CSU), Tobias Eckart (Free Voters) as well as Christine Mair and Professor Matthias Richter-Turtur, both from the Greens, voted against the association's application.

Mair said that robotic lawnmowers in public areas where children played and animals were present were a no-go for her.

She demanded that someone always supervise the robot.

Among other things, hedgehogs and toads could be disturbed by it.
