Who will be the landlord here at the Markt Schwaben town hall from June?

There are two candidates: Valentina Dahms and Ronny Schreib.

A new town hall boss will be sought in Markt Schwaben in June.

It looks like there will only be two candidates.

Markt Schwaben -

When a new first mayor in Markt Schwaben is elected to succeed Michael Stolze on June 9th, the SPD local association will not send its own candidate into the race.

The local chairman Manfred Kabisch announced this to the local press.

As already communicated to the local council, the SPD very much regrets the resignation of Mayor Michael Stolze, writes Kabisch.

And adds: “Unfortunately, we are currently unable to present a candidate from our ranks to succeed Michael.

After careful consideration, we decided to go into the mayoral election without our own candidate.”

The SPD is not sending its own forces into the race

However, they want to give all candidates (so far these are Valentina Dahms for the CSU and the Free Voters and Ronny Schreib for “Future Market Swabia”) the opportunity to present their respective positions on the current challenges of the market town.

According to Kabisch, a possible framework would be an open political get-together.

Kabisch told the Ebersberger Zeitung when asked that they had recently sat down with the Greens and the ZMS on the mayoral candidate issue.

From the SPD's perspective, however, some pressing questions still remained unanswered.

However, the decision has now been made internally not to make Schreib our own candidate.

It is still unclear whether they will at least support him in the election in the form of a voting recommendation, Kabisch told the local newspaper.

For the sake of fairness, we also want to talk to Valentina Dahms (CSU) and explore what overlaps there are with her.

Social Democrats still want to talk to CSU candidate Dahms

It is clear what local political priorities are currently within the social democratic local association, according to the latest SPD statement to the local press.

The SPD members see the following, among others, as urgent issues that were already included in the election program four years ago:

Transport and mobility:

Willingness to reduce the proportion of motorized individual transport (speed restrictions, bicycle priority, car sharing)

Settlement development:

Position on affordable housing, especially taking into account a possible Hauser Weg construction project.

Reuse concept for elementary and middle schools.

The Swabian Greens are now somewhat more decisive on the candidate issue.

There will also be no candidates from our own ranks there, it was recently said in response to a request from our editorial team.

This Tuesday evening there will be a kind of constellation meeting at the “Greek”.

We will report separately.

The Greens probably favor Ronny Schreib

In any case, it was said in advance that ZMS applicant Ronny Schreib (46) would be supported;

either as an official election recommendation or even as your own candidate.
