Many devotions over the Easter holidays for Catholic and Protestant Christians in Dorfen.

Dorfen

– Holy Week began with Palm Sunday.

The name goes back to the Old High German word “kara”, which means “mourning” or “lament”.

This year too, Ernst Bartmann has put together a diverse program until Easter.

The believers are facing a three-day festival, according to Dorfen's church musicians.

“The Last Supper, the Passion and the Resurrection all follow an inner dramaturgy, have their own color and note - and yet they are a self-contained celebration.” The musical arrangement of the church services during this time is correspondingly complex - in all services and The church choir sings at high masses in the Maria Dorfen parish church.

The organ and bells are silent about the Gloria in the celebration from the Last Supper on Maundy Thursday to the Gloria at Easter Vigil - but the singing is not.

Good Friday is anything but a quiet day; at 3 p.m. the St. John Passion by Wolfram Menschick is sung.

In the Good Friday liturgy the aim is always to “shed new light on the suffering and death of Christ,” said Bartmann.

On Sunday at 5 a.m. the silence is broken by cantorial singers who ceremoniously sing “Hallelujah”.

The Easter fire burns not only on the Ruprechtsberg, but also in the Evangelical Reconciliation Church in the city center from 6 a.m.;

There will be an Easter breakfast here afterwards.
