Personalities or anonymous people will be able to pay a last tribute to the former Minister of Culture Frédéric Mitterrand, who died last week at the age of 76, Tuesday afternoon at the Saint-Thomas d'Aquin Church in Paris.

The original place of worship was built on the former site of the garden of Queen Margot, nickname of Marguerite de Valois (1553-1615), and hosted the funeral of the actor Jean Rochefort in 2017. An ideal choice for this lover of History, fond of crowned heads, and a great film buff who notably hosted the TV show “Étoiles et toiles” dedicated to the stars of the 7th art.
The funeral mass will take place at 3 p.m. and will be open to the public, depending on the capacity of the church, after the family and invited personalities.
A cremation will take place in the following days in the privacy of the family.
The list of guests at the funeral is not yet known in detail.
Aggressive cancer
Nephew of the former head of state François Mitterrand, minister under President Nicolas Sarkozy and television man, Frédéric Mitterrand died after a battle of “several months against an aggressive cancer”, according to his family.
In a press release, the Élysée saluted “a servant of the State and a great storyteller of the century, who knew how to bring to life the imaginations which constitute us, and which connect us”.
Many political figures have paid tribute to him.
He was “a deeply cultured and delicate man, a being apart, sensitive and endearing, an unclassifiable personality so far from partisan life”, described Nicolas Sarkozy.
“The death of Frédéric Mitterrand upsets me,” reacted Jack Lang, former Minister of Culture.
Frédéric Mitterrand was also a writer.
He created controversy in 2005 by recounting his paid sexual relations in Thailand and the Maghreb, his “bad life”.
He had publicly defended himself from any relationship with minors or from advocating child crime.
